Meine Arbeit am Stein ist der Versuch mit den minimalsten Veränderungen, mit der geringsten Reduzierung des Volumens eine Bewegung, eine Verschiebung, eine Schwingung zu erreichen; aber immer mit der Möglichkeit diese Veränderung, diesen Eingriff visuell und emotional und rational zurückverfolgen zu können.

Die Würfel-Serien zeigen diese – meine Intention – am deutlichsten auf.

Der erste Würfel ist die Demonstration des statischen, in sich geschlossenen, stereometrischen Wesens des Würfels. 

x Beim zweiten Würfel ist ein Eingriff zu bemerken. 

xx Beim dritten Würfel ist der erste Eingriff wiederholt und es kommt ein zweiter Eingriff dazu. Beide Eingriffe gehen von derselben strukturellen Einsicht/Auffassung aus, entstehen aus dem gleichen System. Beide Eingriffe verändern die Statik, die optische Geschlossenheit des Würfels hin zu einer Dynamisierung. Die Geschlossenheit ist aufgebrochen, der „Würfel“ greift nach außen, geht eine dynamische Beziehung zum Umraum ein – ist in seinem Wesen verändert.

x Beim zweiten Würfel wird die obere Fläche in der Diagonale geteilt, eine davon leicht ins außenliegende Eck abgeflacht, sodaß ein „halbes“ Satteldach entsteht.

xx Beim dritten Würfel ist das Satteldach komplet durchgeführt.

My work with stone is the attempt, through the most minimal changes and the slightest reduction of volume, to achieve a movement, a shift, a vibration; yet always in such a way that this alteration, this intervention, can be visually, emotionally, and rationally retraced.
The cube series illustrates this—my intention—most clearly.

The first cube is the demonstration of the static, self-contained, stereometric nature of the cube.

x In the second cube, an intervention can be observed.

xx In the third cube, the first intervention is repeated, and a second intervention is added. Both interventions arise from the same structural insight/conception, emerging from the same system. Both interventions alter the statics and the optical closedness of the cube toward a dynamization. The closedness is broken open; the “cube” reaches outward, enters into a dynamic relationship with the surrounding space—its very nature is transformed.

x In the second cube, the upper surface is divided along the diagonal, one of the resulting sections slightly flattened toward the outer corner, so that a “half” gable roof emerges.

xx In the third cube, the gable roof is fully executed.
